South African Campfire Recipes, Camping Tips and Ideas.
Hello, and welcome! I am based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and have been a keen camper all my life, first with my parents in Zambia and Zimbabwe, and then with my own family in South Africa. I also wrote for the Caravan and Outdoor Life Magazine for several years, sharing camping tales and recipes with their readers.
As a camping mom, I learnt to make good, easy, delicious food over a campfire. I firmly believe that anything can be cooked on a camp fire, and want to share my experiences with you, as well as lessons learnt from years of camping in South Africa, to make the camping experience even better for you.
You will also find my tips for cooking on an open fire, and what cook-ware to use, as well as how to make the all-important fire and other ideas. And there will be new campfire recipes, too.
I’ll be chatting about what food to pack and how to pack it, as well as menu planning and all sorts of other useful camping stuff.
Oh, and there will probably be a few camping tales, too!
Happy camping 🙂
Linda

Hi
I found this website quite inspirational. My in laws have a game farm with no electricity resulting in us making some very interesting dishes for quite a few days in a row (from breads to braais to potjies. You name it.).
Glad to find someone else who like cooking over the fire!!

Hello Robin, thanks for the visit, and for leaving a comment! How I’d love to know what you make on the fire – would you like to share some ideas/recipes? Perhaps you would like to write a guest post for me, with some photos? Full credit to you, of course, if you’d be interested? Let me know. Linda.

Hi Linda, great blog! We are avid outdoor fans too. For many years we travelled the country to all the sailing spots with the kids. I love that I finally got around to visiting your blog. I don’t find much time to read lately but I do buy the magazine occasionally. Now I know who does the food section and I can come straight to your blog. Goodie.
